Miss Madelaine

Madelaine was born in London to two parents who loved creating creative learning opportunities and believed strongly in nurturing the individual. With a degree and further Postgraduate Certificate in Education, she always knew she wanted to work with young people and was lucky enough to meet amazing teachers who gave her the inspiration to be ‘just like them.’ When not dressing up as a pirate, World War 2 spitfire, polo – player complete with 500 mins, Alice in Wonderland or The Snowman, she loved reading and writing and PLAY PLAY PLAY.

She became Miss Madelaine after completing her QTS and embarking on her career in education and care. Our director has nearly  two – decades teaching and management experience in private education. Miss Madelaine worked as a primary teacher  in the state and private sector for 6 years before setting up her own home – schooling and private tutoring business which has been successfully running internationally and in the UK for over 10 years. She is a regular consultant to three of the UK’s top Independent schools. Miss Madelaine has worked with children all over the world from Australia to New York, from India to Ibiza and Switzerland to Scotland – with many in – between. Her work and training with specialist teaching projects has given her a wealth of experience with SEND and Gifted and Talented provision.

Between 2014 – 2019 she felt very privileged to be enlisted to teach and govern/nanny a rather special 3 year old princess and then two further royal families’ children! Miss Madelaine is passionate about providing an excellent level of care for the children under her charge. Her work has been documented in The Times and Vanity Fair, but the best measure of her passion is to ask around Hove!

Happy Learners Day Nursery is Miss Madelaine’s second ‘baby’. Her first is nearly 2 years old and is a happy human who, seemingly, has as high standards as her! Her drive for creating Happy Learners comes from many places, one of which is an appreciation that finding quality and dedicated childcare is not easy. Miss Madelaine has brought Happy Learners to Hove to drive excellent care into the community.

Miss Laura

Miss Laura grew up with three older siblings and describes her early childhood as full of outdoor adventure and freedom. Her siblings would often take her to the woods and playground for hours on end, sometimes only returning for dinner in the evening! She lived in a village with a very strong community feel and her days were filled with football, bike riding and exploring. Having much older siblings meant that she became an auntie at 11 years old and this, alongside her outdoor upbringing, was fundamental in her Happy Learners journey. She helped to take care of her niece and nephew and always knew she wanted to go into childcare.

She studied Childhood Studies at GCSE, and then continued her education with her Level 3 Diploma, which gave her experience ranging from private nannying to Reception class schooling. Laura worked in various nurseries, building up her training, knowledge and understanding. This led to becoming Deputy Manager and Early Years Coordinator for 14 years in a well -established setting in Buckinghamshire.

Laura undertook her Early Years Foundation Degree at Buckinghamshire University out of a desire to deepen her professional practice. She has a focused interest and training in Play – Centred Approaches and is passionate about child development. Her wish is for every child to experience an exciting and engaging learning environment. She advocates supporting families and their needs, taking the time to build trusting relationships with each family in her setting.

Laura Loves supporting children and their holistic development, watching them grow and learn, and getting them ready for their next stage of development.

Miss Lauren

Miss Lauren was born in very special year with three zeros in it. From a very young age she was ‘in the world’ of childcare. Her mother was an Ofsted registered childminder and professional nanny, and she grew up seeing all that outstanding care does and can do for young people.

As a child, Miss Lauren loved role-play and taking care of dolls; she still carries that nurturing and sensitive energy into everything she does. At school she had the highest grades in her Health and Social Care class and started her A – Levels with the intention of pursuing a career with children. She is a Level 3 Practitioner with a Diploma in Child Psychology and is trained in Leadership and Management.

Miss Lauren has been a Room Leader in well – established nursery schools in Sussex. She was the recipient of Employee of the Year in her last post, before deciding she wanted to put her skills to use with greater personalisation and freedom.

When Miss Madelaine first met Miss Lauren she stopped writing her recruitment notes for a moment and drew a smiley face in the margin of her book! When you meet her you will understand why. Miss Lauren is fascinated with observing and guiding children in early development and loves her job for the relationships and bonds that are created. She is a founding member of Happy Learners Day Nursery and is one of the first people you will meet on your Happy Learners journey.
